Malawi Young Leaders go an Extra Mile in Advocacy - Launches Climate Change Theme Song

As the effects of climate change continue to hit the world hard, Malawi Scotland Partnership young leaders under climate change project have gone an extra mile to launch a song and a video tackling climate change issues.
Singer Joe Kellz, born Kelvin Jonathan Pangani, put the words of young leaders in a smooth melody to advocate for environmental issues. The video was premiered on a zoom meeting by Malawi Scotland Partnership authorities and young leaders on 29 January 2021. As a response to United Nations Sustainable Goal Number 13 which calls for an Urgent action towards climate change, young leaders developed a concept of both video and audio for the song. The song dubbed 'Nyengo Isasithe' (Climate should not change) compares the old climate to the present change with an emphasis on how the present climate is negatively affecting daily living. With coaxing and tingling African drums the song also calls for unity in a fight to combat climate change.
According to the versatile acoustic performer - Joe Kellz - musicians in the world have a role to play in advocating for things that affect their society. "Climate change is a global challenge, it is real, the future of our planet is at stake. There is a need to advocate for such issues through music." Said Joe Kellz.
Commenting on the development, Malawi Scotland Partnership Programmes manager Linda Dembo has called on the young leaders to share the song with their network. "Send it to your friends, let us spread the messages of climate change, by doing this we can win this war."
On behalf of the Scotland team, Hanna Betts - International Project Coordinator (2050 Climate Group) - hailed the young leaders for the efforts in advocating for climate change issues. Meanwhile Young climate change leaders have lined up special activities to advocate for environmental issues.
