2050x Fund Now Open!
About 2050x
2050 Climate Group’s Leaders Network run a funding initiative called 2050x. Through our 2050x Fund the 2050 Climate Group offers financial support for projects aiming to tackle an aspect of climate change. The 2050x fund is made possible through funding by the Scottish Government. This unique opportunity is open to all 18 - 35 year olds, based in Scotland, who have a project idea that requires some extra resources and support.
Successful applicants will receive a financial contribution, as well as support from the 2050 Climate Group, which can provide climate change expertise from a broad range of sectors and access to a wide network of contacts. This financial support could be anywhere from £50 to £1,000 depending on the funding needed, and each application will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
What should 2050x projects want to achieve?
2050x projects should be aligned with the 2050 Climate Group’s charitable purpose, that is the education, engagement and empowerment of the next generation of leaders to take action on climate change and the advancement of education on climate change and leadership skills. Beyond this condition, projects may be wide ranging and we will consider all applications. For this round of 2050x, we are particularly interested to hear from nature-based projects.
While we encourage applicants to have a clear idea of their project aims and desired outcomes before applying, as well as an understanding of why the project is needed, please do contact us even if your idea is not complete and we will try to support you to develop the idea into a strong application.
Funding is available for a wide range of purposes, including venue space, catering, travel expenses and other materials and essential costs, as well as potentially training or other external support to allow these projects or events to succeed.
We’re open to ideas so if you’re unsure if what you have in mind is eligible for funding, just ask!
Funding details
You must be aged between 18 to 35 year olds and located in Scotland in order to apply for 2050x funding. Current 2050 Climate Group trustees and staff members are not eligible to apply for 2050x funding.
This funding is only available to reimburse costs on production of receipts, and not available as an upfront payment. If this might cause an issue due to financial circumstances, we will work with you to find a solution that works for you and your project.
This round of 2050x is to support projects requiring funding between January and mid-March 2022. In order to be eligible for funding you must be able to claim back your project expenses by 11th March 2022. If your project will commence after this date, we would recommend waiting for the next round of funding.
If successful in receiving funding, projects should also acknowledge 2050 Climate Group’s support (which could vary from a simple tweet up to something more formal depending on the level of support) and complete a blog post summarising the project, how you got on, what challenges you faced, what difference you think you made and how the 2050 Climate Group helped you achieve this.
Any questions, please email actions@2050.scot.
Applications close at 5pm on 31st January 2022
